Gender bias in physics grading

This project examines gender bias in grading by physics teachers and the role of teaching experience in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. The existence of gender stereotypes in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) has been repeatedly documented. But do today’s physics teachers really show a bias in grading to the detriment of girls? Can teaching experience reduce the need to invoke stereotypes in grading? A generally valid pattern of bias effects independent of German-speaking country is expected.
