Mathematics teachers’ task-related noticing and decision-making

Scientist Daniel Weissmüller

Teachers have an influence on the learning success of students. The preparation of lessons by the teacher is of particular importance, because it is here that the teacher selects tasks for the lesson. Tasks, in turn, are carriers of a task potential that can be unfolded during the lesson. The aim of this dissertation is to investigate how teachers classify tasks based on knowledge and to what extent differences in knowledge-based classification influence students' learning success. For this purpose, in addition to the data collected in the TraM study, a test instrument is developped to survey the knowledge-based classification of tasks.
